Via the B7 and turn before Simou
Route Map, Elevation, Description & Photo's
We did this walk in the early morning. Starting the walk at 7AM due to the temperatures. The route took us along parallel to the river Stavros Tis Psokas, there were quite a lot of trees and undergrowth we could hear the frog song chirping away. The track was wide, flat and quite dusty, you could see the old ruined Scarfos Water mill on the right and the Scarfos Venetian Bridge behind it. There were caves in the rock on the left and of course I had to climb in one.
The track turned in away from the river at approximately 2.2KM and passed a small quarry. You could see the mountains ahead as we turned left and started to ascend up through the old abandoned village of Sarama. For the next 2.4KM it was a steady climb on track and concrete road, rising approximately 130m in height I didn't find the hill too steep. The views of the early morning misty mountains were fabulous. There were also distant views of the valley and the recently harvested hay fields. The remaining third of the route took us along through the fields before winding down hill back to the track by the river and the start.
