Armageti 11KM Southern Circular

I walked this with two friends Karen and Mike. I started the route in the village of Armageti near the church. There was plenty of parking at the roadside. The route initially took us up through the village and out across the E606 on to wide tracks. It was a bit muddy with the resent rains but very green and there were some beautiful views long distance and some looking over the Xeropotomos river valley which runs down past Nata into the Astrokremmos Dam.
I found approximately the first third of the route very easy going, flat and down hill, then the next third had some fairly steep and quite long hills to gain height again. The latter third I thought was quite easy again. We crossed back over the E606 lower down and ended up back at the church.
Armageti is the home of the Kalamos Winery which is located on the right just down from the church. I am quite partial to the wonderful medium sweet rose wine and the Pomegranate Liqueur. So I popped in to restock.
There is a traditional taverna inn the village but unfortunately it was closed when we did the walk.
